MARKREE CASTLE WEDDING, SLIGO
Today, I am excited to share a slideshow highlighting Clodagh & Alistair’s magical wedding day at Markree Castle. This stunning venue served as the perfect backdrop for their beautiful celebration, offering elegance and charm from start to finish.
A Morning of Preparation
The couple began their day by getting ready at the castle itself. Clodagh prepared in the bridal suite alongside her bridesmaids, surrounded by laughter and excitement. Meanwhile, Alistair got ready downstairs in a charming suite near the Butler’s kitchen. Having both the bride and groom at the same venue allowed for a relaxed morning without the stress of rushing between locations.
As the ceremony time approached, the excitement was palpable. The seamless flow of the morning reflected how thoughtfully the day had been planned, leaving everyone calm yet eager for the celebration to begin.
The Beautiful Ceremony at Markree Chapel
The ceremony took place in Markree Castle’s breathtaking chapel. This space, with its gothic architecture, dramatic design, and tall stained-glass windows, creates a unique and magical atmosphere. The strong colors and classic touches make it one of the most enchanting onsite chapels I’ve ever photographed. The love and emotion shared during this moment were unforgettable.
Capturing Memories in the Castle Gardens
Following the ceremony, we ventured into Markree Castle’s gardens for the bride and groom session. These gardens are a photographer’s dream, offering stunning backdrops with old trees and the castle itself. Having this picturesque setting so close to the venue doors made the session quick and effortless. This allowed Clodagh & Alistair to maximize time with their family and friends during the reception.
We also explored the castle’s interiors, capturing elegant portraits that added a touch of sophistication to their wedding album. The combination of outdoor and indoor shots created a perfect balance of charm and intimacy.
Celebration and First Dance Under the Stars
The reception was filled with heartfelt speeches, joyful laughter, and the warmth of loved ones. The stairway speeches were particularly moving, adding a unique touch to the day. Later in the evening, Clodagh & Alistair shared their first dance outdoors, surrounded by twinkling lights and the evening’s serene ambiance. It was a magical beginning to the night’s celebration.
A Day Perfectly Coordinated
Deirdre, Markree Castle’s exceptional wedding coordinator, ensured that every detail of the day was flawlessly planned. From the timeline to the decor, everything ran smoothly, allowing the couple and their guests to fully enjoy the celebration. The team’s dedication and expertise were evident in every moment.
