A REAL WEDDING IN COUNTY CLARE
Dromoland Castle Wedding
An autumn celebration at Dromoland Castle in County Clare, where historic interiors, Irish traditions and the people closest to Molly and Haynes came together for a memorable day.
Photographed by Wojciech Koza, this real wedding gallery follows the atmosphere of the celebration — from the preparations and ceremony to the gathering of family and friends, and the evening reception.
THE WEDDING STORY
An Autumn Castle Wedding in Ireland
Molly and Haynes chose Dromoland Castle for their October wedding, welcoming approximately 140 guests to one of Ireland’s distinctive historic estates. Their plans combined a traditional Christian ceremony with Irish cultural touches.
The ceremony was arranged in the Kincora Gallery, while the evening celebrations centred on the Brian Boru Hall. A traditional piper was part of the planned entrance to the reception — a fitting detail for a wedding rooted in its Irish setting.
Rather than turning the day into a styled production, my photographs focus on the connections between people: the anticipation before the ceremony, the presence of a large wedding party and the smaller moments that give the celebration its character.
WEDDING PLANNING & CREATIVE COLLABORATION
A Wedding Thoughtfully Planned by Kate Deegan
This celebration was planned and coordinated by Kate Deegan, whose team was also responsible for the floral arrangements. From the timing of the first look to ceremony logistics and family photographs, Kate was a key point of coordination for the couple.
Working alongside a planner who understands how a wedding day unfolds helps create the space for genuine moments to happen naturally, while the celebration moves smoothly around the couple.

A PHOTOGRAPHER’S PERSPECTIVE
The Character of Dromoland Castle
The appeal of photographing a wedding at Dromoland lies in the contrast between its grand setting and the very personal moments taking place within it. Architectural details and beautiful rooms help establish a sense of place; the expressions and interactions give the photographs meaning.
For a celebration of this size, moving between preparations, the Kincora Gallery and the reception requires careful attention to light, timing and the pace of the day. My approach is documentary-led, with considered portraits when the moment calls for them.

CASTLE WEDDINGS ACROSS IRELAND
A Love for Ireland’s Castle Weddings
Based in Sligo, I photograph weddings across Ireland — from the west coast and County Clare to Dublin and its surrounding counties. Historic castles are a particular part of my work, and each venue has its own atmosphere, architecture and rhythm.
My experience includes weddings at Dromoland Castle, Markree Castle, Cabra Castle and Kilkea Castle. Photographing celebrations in different settings has shaped the way I work: with an appreciation for the place, but always with the people and their story at the centre.
If you are exploring possible locations for your own celebration, my guide to the best castle wedding venues in Ireland brings together inspiration from across the country.
