Wedding Photography Quotes in Dublin / How to Compare Your Options
You have found a few photographers whose work you love. Their quotes have arrived, but the options do not look quite the same. One includes an album, another offers longer coverage, and a third mentions a second photographer. How do you make a meaningful comparison?
A useful comparison begins with what each photographer will actually provide: the hours, the approach, the finished photographs and the arrangements around your wedding. The total matters, but it only becomes meaningful when you understand what sits behind it.
I’m Wojciech Koza, a wedding photographer based in Sligo, working throughout Ireland, including Dublin. This guide helps you read photography quotes carefully and choose coverage that suits the celebration you are planning.
02 · START WITH THE SAME BRIEF
Make the Comparison Fair / Describe the Same Wedding
Before comparing quotes, make sure each photographer has received the same essential information. Different assumptions about your plans can produce very different proposals.
Share your date and locations. Include the preparation address, ceremony venue and reception venue where these are confirmed. Mention any travel between them.
Describe the moments that matter. Would you like preparations photographed? Are speeches happening before dinner or later in the evening? Is staying beyond the first dance important to you?
Mention additional events. A welcome dinner, rehearsal gathering or celebration the following day should be discussed separately rather than assumed to be part of wedding-day coverage.
Explain what you want to receive. If an album, prints or a second photographer are priorities, include them in your initial enquiry.

03 · HOURS AND WEDDING-DAY COVERAGE
Read Beyond “Full Day” / Check the Start and Finish
“Full-day coverage” can describe different arrangements. Compare the proposed start time, finishing point and number of consecutive hours rather than relying on the package name.
Preparations. Ask when photography begins and which preparation location is included. If you are getting ready separately, discuss how both parts of the morning could be covered.
The ceremony and journeys. Allow for the time needed to move between locations. A city ceremony followed by a reception elsewhere creates a different schedule from a wedding held entirely at one venue.
Speeches and evening celebrations. Check whether the quote finishes at a fixed time, after the first dance or after another agreed moment.
Additional time. Ask how extra coverage is arranged, whether it is subject to availability and how any additional charge would be agreed.

04 · THE PHOTOGRAPHY EXPERIENCE
Look at the Whole Story / Not Only the Highlights
A quotation describes the service, but a complete wedding gallery helps you understand the photography you are choosing. Ask to see how a photographer documents an entire celebration, from quieter moments to the ceremony, family photographs, speeches and evening atmosphere.
Look for consistency. Notice how the photographs work together across different rooms, weather conditions and times of day.
Consider the balance. Do you connect with the mix of documentary moments, portraits, family groups and details? Think about what you would want to remember from your own wedding.
Ask about direction. Discuss how portraits and family photographs are organised, and how much time you may need to set aside.

05 · WHAT YOU WILL RECEIVE
Understand the Deliverables / Photographs, Galleries and Albums
Two proposals can include the same number of hours while offering different finished products. Read the delivery details carefully and ask about anything that is not clearly described.
Edited photographs. Check how the photographer describes the finished collection, whether an approximate image range is provided and what editing is included. A larger image count alone does not tell you how complete or consistent the story will feel.
Digital files. Ask which file sizes you will receive and how you can download, print and share them under the photographer’s stated terms.
Online gallery. Confirm whether a gallery is included, how access works and how long it will remain available. Ask how you should keep your own copies of the delivered photographs.
Albums and prints. If an album is included, compare its size, materials, number of spreads and design process. Check whether delivery or optional upgrades are additional.
Delivery schedule. Ask when to expect the finished collection and whether preview photographs are included. The agreed arrangements should be clear before booking.

06 · PEOPLE AND PRACTICAL ARRANGEMENTS
Know Who Will Be There / One Photographer or Two
Check who will photograph your wedding and whether the quote is for one photographer or a team. If you are booking because you connect with a particular person’s work, make sure the arrangements are understood.
The main photographer. Confirm who will attend and whether the person you are speaking with will be photographing the day.
A second photographer. Ask what a second photographer would add to your particular plans. Separate preparations, overlapping events or a larger celebration may make this worth discussing, but it is not automatically necessary for every wedding.
Hours and responsibilities. If a second photographer is included, check how long they will attend and how the coverage is divided.
Unexpected circumstances. Ask what arrangements the photographer has if they become unable to attend, and how these are explained in the booking agreement.

07 · LOCATIONS AND TRAVEL
Consider the Whole Journey / City Streets and Castle Grounds
The locations you choose influence the practical coverage you need. A wedding within one property and a celebration involving several journeys should not be compared as though the schedules were identical.
Travel between venues. Share the actual locations and allow realistic time for journeys, parking and moving between spaces.
Travel-related charges. Ask whether the quoted total includes the photographer’s travel and whether accommodation or other agreed expenses may apply.
Portrait locations. Discuss how photographs can fit around your plans. If you would like to leave the venue for portraits, check the time and any arrangements this involves.
Indoor alternatives. Ask how the photographer approaches your venue if the weather changes or daylight is limited.

08 · OPTIONAL EXTRAS
Separate Essentials from Extras / Choose What Matters to You
An option is only valuable if it suits your plans. Rather than counting how many extras appear in a package, decide which ones you would actually use.
Additional hours. Consider whether the extra time includes moments you genuinely want documented.
Pre-wedding photography. If a session is offered, ask about its location, duration, scheduling and what you will receive.
Albums and parent copies. Establish which products are included now and which can be ordered separately later.
Film, video or other services. Where these are offered, clarify who provides them, what is included and how they fit alongside the photography. Do not assume that a slideshow, film photography and a wedding video describe the same service.

09 · ADDITIONAL EVENTS AND PLANNING SUPPORT
More Than One Day / Keep Each Part Clearly Defined
If your wedding includes a welcome gathering, rehearsal dinner or a second-day celebration, ask for each part to be described clearly. A wedding-day quotation should not leave you guessing about coverage on another date.
Define each event. Share the date, location, approximate timings and the moments you would like photographed.
Compare the complete arrangement. Check the combined coverage, travel requirements and deliverables rather than looking only at the wedding-day total.
Keep the team informed. If a planner is coordinating the celebration, agree who will share the final schedule and communicate any changes.

Put the Details Side by Side / Make Missing Information Visible
A simple written comparison can make your decision easier. For each proposal, record the same details. If something is not stated, mark it as a question rather than assuming that it is included or excluded.
Coverage: start time, finish time, consecutive hours and additional-time arrangements.
People: named photographer, second photographer if applicable, and their respective attendance.
Photographs: editing, digital delivery, gallery access and any stated image expectations.
Products: album specifications, prints, design process and optional upgrades.
Practical details: locations, travel, additional events and any agreed expenses.
Booking: quoted total, payment schedule, availability and the written booking terms.
Personal fit: complete galleries you have viewed, the approach you prefer and how comfortable you feel communicating with the photographer.
The aim is not to give every photographer a score. It is to understand the differences well enough to choose the service that fits your wedding.
11 · PRICE CONTEXT AND YOUR FINAL CHOICE
Choose With Confidence / Bring the Quote Back to Your Priorities
Once you understand the differences between proposals, return to your original priorities. Which photographer’s work feels right? Does the proposed coverage include the parts of the day you care about? Are the arrangements clear, and does the total fit the budget you have chosen?
A lower total may reflect fewer hours or fewer included products. A higher total may include services you do not need. Neither figure answers the whole question without the details behind it.

Before confirming your booking. Ask for any important clarifications in writing and read the agreement, including the payment schedule and arrangements for changes or cancellation. Make sure the agreed service matches the proposal you have chosen.

How can we compare wedding photography quotes fairly?
Give each photographer the same brief, then compare the hours, people attending, finished photographs, products, travel arrangements and booking terms. Ask about anything that is not clearly stated.
Does full-day coverage mean the same thing in every quote?
No. Check the actual start time, finish time and number of consecutive hours. A package name alone does not confirm which parts of your wedding will be photographed.
Should we choose the quote with the most photographs?
Image numbers are only one detail. Look at complete galleries to understand the consistency, storytelling and balance of photographs you can expect from that photographer.
Do we need a second photographer?
That depends on your schedule, locations and priorities. Discuss what additional coverage a second photographer would provide for your particular wedding before deciding.
What if one quote includes an album and another does not?
Ask for comparable album specifications and a clear explanation of any optional cost. Then decide whether you want an album as part of your booking or would prefer to consider it separately.
