A Photographer’s Perspective
The most memorable weddings are not simply beautifully designed. They are celebrations where every detail feels connected to the people, the place and the experience of the day.
As a wedding photographer working across Ireland, I have had the opportunity to photograph celebrations involving Sandra Scharlach of INFUSION Weddings. From the warm, intimate atmosphere of Juniper Barn in Sligo to the historic surroundings of Smock Alley Theatre in Dublin, these weddings have given me an appreciation for the relationship between thoughtful planning, creative design and the moments that unfold naturally.
Behind INFUSION Weddings
Meet Sandra Scharlach
Sandra Scharlach is the founder of INFUSION Weddings, an Ireland-based wedding planning and creative direction business specialising in personal, thoughtfully designed celebrations.
Her professional background extends across hospitality and event management, giving her an understanding of both the creative and practical sides of bringing people together. Having made Ireland her home, Sandra works with couples who want their wedding to feel individual, welcoming and connected to their own story.
Her approach is particularly relevant to couples planning a destination wedding in Ireland, where local knowledge, supplier relationships and careful coordination can make a meaningful difference.
The Creative Approach
Wedding Planning with a Sense of Place
Ireland offers an extraordinary variety of wedding settings. Historic city venues, countryside barns, elegant estates and intimate spaces all have their own atmosphere and character.
What interests me about Sandra’s approach is the connection between wedding planning and creative direction. Rather than treating flowers, lighting, table settings and the movement of the day as separate considerations, her work brings them into a broader vision for the celebration.
From behind the camera, this relationship between the setting and the experience is especially interesting. A beautifully considered room creates an atmosphere, but it is the people and the moments within that space that give the photographs their meaning.
The Planning Behind the Celebration
Wedding planning is often most successful when guests hardly notice it. The ceremony begins naturally, the reception feels welcoming, and the couple has time to enjoy the people who have travelled to celebrate with them.
Achieving that sense of ease requires preparation. Timelines, supplier communication, room arrangements and the transitions between different parts of the day all contribute to the experience.
For documentary wedding photography, a considered schedule is particularly valuable. It allows space for genuine interaction, unplanned moments and portraits that feel relaxed rather than hurried.

A Beautifully Personal Wedding at Juniper Barn
Kathryn and Patrick’s wedding at Juniper Barn in County Sligo brought together the warmth of a countryside celebration with a distinctive visual atmosphere.
The setting offered a wonderful contrast of natural textures, carefully chosen details and the relaxed character of a celebration surrounded by friends and family. It was the kind of wedding where the atmosphere felt just as important as the individual decorative elements.
The wedding was also featured in One Fab Day, offering a closer look at its colour palette, styling and personal details.
Kind Words from the Bride
“We cannot recommend Wojciech enough!! Not only did he and his team capture the most incredible photos, they were warm, professional and communicative throughout the planning process. We are so happy with his work – photos we’ll reflect on for a lifetime!”

A Dublin Wedding at Smock Alley Theatre
Pink and Joe’s wedding at Smock Alley Theatre brought together the character of historic Dublin with the energy and emotion of a city celebration.
The ceremony space is especially memorable. Its tall windows, ornate ceiling and historic architectural details create a setting that feels both intimate and dramatic. Photographing the ceremony offered opportunities to capture the scale of the room alongside the smaller, personal moments shared by the couple and their guests.
It is a lovely example of how a distinctive venue can become part of a wedding’s visual story without taking attention away from the people at its centre.
Working Together
What Matters from Behind the Camera
Photographing weddings gives me an opportunity to see a celebration from a different perspective. I notice how a room changes as guests arrive, how light moves through a space, and how the rhythm of the day influences the photographs.
Good planning and creative direction can make a meaningful difference to that experience. They help create an environment where the couple can focus on each other, their families and the people who have come to celebrate with them.
My own approach is documentary at heart. I want to photograph weddings as they genuinely happen, while also giving thoughtful attention to the setting, the details and the atmosphere that make each celebration individual.
A Photographer’s Recommendation
For couples looking for thoughtful wedding planning and a creative approach to their celebration in Ireland, Sandra Scharlach and INFUSION Weddings are well worth discovering.
I particularly value the idea that a wedding should reflect the people celebrating it. Beautiful details matter, but the atmosphere, genuine connections and experience of the day are what ultimately make the memories meaningful.
