Patrick and Sean celebrated their wedding at Markree Castle surrounded by family and friends in the heart of County Sligo. Their day was elegant, relaxed and full of genuine emotion, with the historic castle and its grounds becoming the setting for everything from the ceremony to the evening celebration.
What I remember most is not simply how beautiful everything looked, but the atmosphere between the people who had come together for them. The laughter, reactions and small interactions throughout the day were what gave the photographs their meaning.

An Outdoor Ceremony at the Castle
Patrick and Sean’s ceremony took place in the castle courtyard, surrounded by the architecture of Markree and the people closest to them. Flowers and lights brought colour and warmth to the setting while the courtyard kept the ceremony connected to the character of the castle itself.
The most important photographs came from what happened naturally: the anticipation before the ceremony, the reactions of family and friends, laughter between Patrick and Sean and the emotions immediately after the vows.

THE CELEBRATION
From the Courtyard to the Evening Reception
After the ceremony, the celebration moved through the castle and its grounds before everyone came together again for dinner. The reception brought a different energy to the photographs, with conversations, reactions and spontaneous moments gradually giving way to the evening party.
Rather than turning the day into a sequence of photoshoots, my approach is to leave space for those moments to happen while stepping in when a little direction is genuinely useful. Because your wedding is not a photoshoot. You don’t have to perform your wedding day. You just have to live it.
