A WEDDING ACROSS BORDERS

From Enniskillen to Markree Castle

June and Daniel’s wedding had a genuinely international feel. With many of their guests travelling from the United States, the day brought family and friends together in Ireland for a celebration that stretched from morning preparations in Enniskillen to Markree Castle in County Sligo.

THE PHOTOGRAPHY

Let the Wedding Happen

A day like this does not need to be turned into a photoshoot. The most important photographs often happen in between the planned moments: family seeing one another again, reactions during the ceremony, conversations, laughter and the atmosphere created by everyone who travelled to celebrate together.

Couple portraits can still be beautiful without taking over the wedding. A well-planned day leaves space for photographs around the castle while allowing the couple to get back to their guests and enjoy the celebration.

Can we get ready somewhere other than Markree Castle?

Yes. June and Daniel’s wedding is a good example of a day that began away from the castle. The important part is allowing realistic travel time and building the photography schedule around the locations involved.

Is Markree Castle suitable for couples travelling from abroad?

It works particularly well for destination celebrations because much of the wedding day can happen in one place once everyone arrives: ceremony, portraits, dinner and the evening celebration.

How much time do we need for wedding photos at Markree Castle?

It does not need to be one long portrait session. I prefer using short opportunities throughout the day, choosing locations according to the light, weather and timeline so the photography remains part of the wedding rather than interrupting it.
