Roisin and Eoin travelled home from New Zealand to celebrate their

wedding at Markree Castle

with family and friends from across Ireland.

Roisin is from Donegal, Eoin is from Waterford, and they first met while studying physiotherapy at UCD.
After almost five years living in New Zealand, their wedding brought everything back to Ireland
for one winter celebration in Sligo.

From New Zealand to Markree Castle

The morning began across two locations. Roisin got ready with her bridesmaids at Markree Castle,
while Eoin and the groomsmen were based at The Glasshouse in the centre of Sligo before travelling
to the castle.

Before the ceremony, Roisin shared a first look with her bridesmaids in the Gin Bar.
Later, she and Eoin had their own first look beside the piano in one of Markree Castle’s elegant
reception rooms. Planning this part of the day before the ceremony also helped them make the most
of the shorter January daylight.

Their humanist ceremony took place in the Markree Castle Chapel and included readings,
a remembrance candle and a handfasting ritual before the celebrations continued through the castle.
It was a personal ceremony followed by family photographs, portraits around Markree and speeches
on the castle staircase before dinner.
