RAIN, ROMANCE & REAL EMOTION
A Chapel Wedding at Markree Castle
Rain does not have to take anything away from a wedding at
Markree Castle
.
Sometimes it becomes part of the atmosphere, changing the light, slowing everything down for a moment and giving the photographs a completely different character.
This wedding was full of emotion from the beginning, with the ceremony taking place inside Markree Castle’s chapel before the celebration continued around the castle.
The
Markree Castle wedding photos
tell a story that is not dependent on perfect weather. It is about reactions, relationships, atmosphere and all the unexpected moments that make a real wedding memorable.

THE CHAPEL
An Emotional Ceremony Inside Markree Castle
The chapel at Markree Castle creates a very different atmosphere from an outdoor ceremony. It feels intimate and contained, keeping everyone close together and allowing the smallest reactions to become part of the photographs.
Those are often the moments I am watching for: a glance between two people, someone trying not to cry, laughter breaking the tension or the reaction of family and friends as the ceremony unfolds.
WHEN THE WEATHER CHANGES
Rain Can Become Part of the Story
Irish weather is unpredictable, and I never want a couple to feel that their photographs depend on getting a perfect sunny day. Markree Castle gives us beautiful interiors as well as the grounds outside, so we can respond to the conditions rather than fight against them.
When there is an opportunity to step outside, we take it. When the rain returns, the story simply continues somewhere else. That flexibility keeps the photography relaxed and lets the wedding remain a wedding rather than turning the day into a schedule of photographs.
A LITTLE CHAOS IS A GOOD THING
Smoke Bombs, Laughter and a Wedding with Personality
Not every photograph needs to be quiet or romantic. Some of the strongest moments from a wedding come when people stop worrying about the camera and simply enjoy themselves.
Smoke bombs added another burst of colour and energy to this celebration, creating something playful and completely different from the more intimate photographs earlier in the day.
That contrast is what makes a complete wedding gallery interesting: emotion in the chapel, the atmosphere created by the rain, portraits around the castle and then moments that are loud, spontaneous and full of personality.
A RELAXED APPROACH
Let the Day Unfold Naturally
My approach is to give direction when it genuinely helps, but leave enough space for the wedding to develop naturally. I want couples to remember their guests, conversations and celebrations rather than feeling that they spent the day being moved from one photograph to another.
A
relaxed wedding day timeline
gives us that flexibility, particularly when the Irish weather decides to change the plan.
WHATEVER THE WEATHER
Planning Your Wedding at Markree Castle?
Whether your day brings sunshine, rain or a little bit of both, the important thing is that the photographs still feel like your wedding: natural, emotional and full of the people who were there with you.
Because your wedding is not a photoshoot. You don’t have to perform your wedding day. You just have to live it.
