STEPHANIE & BRIAN
A Garden Wedding and Sunset Celebration at Markree Castle
Stephanie and Brian travelled from the UK to celebrate their wedding at
Markree Castle
in Sligo, surrounded by family and friends for a relaxed spring destination wedding in Ireland.
Their day brought together so many of the things that make an outdoor celebration here special: a first look by the river, an emotional garden ceremony, time with guests around the castle and a short portrait session as the evening light began to soften.
The resulting
Markree Castle wedding photos
move naturally from real moments and reactions to portraits in the gardens, forest paths and historic interiors of the castle.

AN OUTDOOR CEREMONY
A Garden Ceremony Surrounded by Spring Colour
An outdoor ceremony changes the feeling of a wedding day. Guests are already surrounded by the landscape, the atmosphere feels open and relaxed, and the photographs naturally include the season and surroundings as part of the story.
For Stephanie and Brian, the gardens became much more than a backdrop. They were part of the ceremony itself and later gave us space for relaxed photographs without taking the couple away from their celebration for too long.
GOLDEN HOUR
Ten Minutes Away Can Be Enough
As the light softened later in the day, we stepped outside again for a short sunset portrait session. I never want golden hour photographs to mean disappearing from dinner or guests for a long photoshoot. When the timing and light are right, a few relaxed minutes can be enough.
That is one reason I like building a
relaxed wedding day timeline
.
It leaves room to respond to beautiful light when it appears without making photography control the wedding.
THE WHOLE DAY
From Quiet Moments to a Packed Dance Floor
The slideshow brings everything back together: champagne with the bridesmaids, the first look, the ceremony, conversations with guests, portraits around the castle, speeches and the energy of the party later that night.
That complete story matters to me. The beautiful portraits have their place, but so do the expressions, relationships and unexpected moments that make one wedding completely different from another.
PLANNING YOUR OWN CELEBRATION?
Planning a Garden Wedding at Markree Castle?
If you are dreaming of an outdoor ceremony, relaxed photographs and time to actually enjoy the celebration with your guests, I would love to hear what you are planning.
Because your wedding is not a photoshoot. You don’t have to perform your wedding day. You just have to live it.
