With its delicate structure and wooden deck stretching over the River Camcor, it created a dreamlike atmosphere straight out of a fairytale.

This woodland, part of the Kinnitty Castle Loop Trail, is known for its serenity and filtered golden light at dusk. The newlyweds, relaxed and fully present, wandered together through the trees and across the bridge—sharing warm embraces and quiet laughter.

The session ended with golden-hour portraits framed by the silhouette of the castle and soft forest shadows—timeless, romantic, and full of emotion.

Upon arrival at Markree Castle, the atmosphere instantly shifted to that of a fairy tale. The garden reception was held outdoors under soft, golden light. Speeches and Sunset Portraits

Once the garden reception ended, we moved indoors for speeches – heartfelt, funny, and unforgettable. As golden hour approached, I stole the couple away for another short session in the castle gardens, bathed in the warm hues of the setting sun. This sunset session is one of my favourite ways to capture the quiet, emotional connection between a couple.

Dancing the Night Away

The evening continued with cake cutting, followed by dancing in the grand ballroom. The energy, the laughter, and the joyful celebration carried on into the night – the perfect end to a perfect day at Markree Castle.

A Winter Wedding Full of Magic

Despite December’s unpredictable weather, Castle Leslie Estate proved once again that it’s the perfect choice for an elegant and romantic winter wedding. Even when the rain kept us inside, the stunning interiors offered countless breathtaking photo opportunities without compromising the experience.

The Ceremony – St. Macartan’s Cathedral

The day began with a beautiful ceremony at St. Macartan’s Cathedral in Monaghan. This grand and historic cathedral is a fantastic choice for destination wedding couples looking for a spacious, elegant, and awe-inspiring place to exchange vows in Ireland.

A Relaxed Stop at The Old Bar

After the ceremony, the couple made a quick stop at The Old Bar, a well-known spot where many newlyweds pause to toast their marriage. The charming front door and cozy interiors make it a perfect place for a few relaxed portraits before heading to the reception.

At Castle Leslie Estate, we explored the beautifully decorated interiors. Even without venturing into the gardens due to the rain, the castle’s timeless charm provided stunning locations for the couple’s portraits. After the portrait session, the newlyweds rejoined their guests for an intimate reception inside Castle Leslie. The Dining Room, elegantly prepared with winter decorations, hosted heartfelt speeches that added even more magic and emotion to the day.

William and Hannah celebrated their wedding day in the heart of Sligo, surrounded by the timeless beauty of Markree Castle.

The morning began in the charming Butler’s Kitchen, where the atmosphere was relaxed and full of quiet excitement – a perfect start to a day filled with genuine moments.

Their ceremony took place in the intimate castle chapel, followed by a relaxed photo session around the estate. We explored the forest paths, walked by the river, and paused in the gardens – every corner of Markree Castle offering space for truly candid and artistic wedding photography.

Later in the evening, heartfelt speeches were delivered from the grand staircase, before guests returned to the dining room for dessert.

Just after the final course, everyone stepped outside for a magical sparkler moment – one of the highlights of the day – which led straight into the first dance and a night full of celebration on the dance floor.
