THE PERSON BEHIND THE CAMERA
I’m Wojciech / The Photographer Behind This Story
I’m Wojciech Koza, a wedding photographer based in Ireland. My approach is to photograph the day as it naturally unfolds, combining honest documentary moments with relaxed, carefully considered portraits.
Katy and Matthew’s wedding at The Millhouse was a wonderful reminder of how much a thoughtful timeline can give back to a couple: a private moment together before the ceremony, time for family photographs and the freedom to enjoy their guests.
THE WEDDING MORNING / KATY
Bridal Preparations / A Morning in The Coach House
Katy began her wedding morning in The Coach House, The Millhouse’s private preparation space overlooking the River Boyne. With natural light, familiar faces and the anticipation of everything ahead, the morning had its own gentle rhythm.
These are the moments I love to document without interrupting: the final touches of makeup, conversations between friends, small details and the expressions that tell the story of the hours before the ceremony.
THE WEDDING MORNING / MATTHEW
Groom Preparations / The Georgian Manor House
While Katy was getting ready in The Coach House, Matthew spent the morning with his groomsmen in the Main House. The Georgian interiors provided a different backdrop, with the quieter details of getting dressed mixed with conversation and anticipation.
Photographing both sides of the morning gives the wedding story a fuller beginning, bringing together moments the couple experienced separately.
THE FINAL TOUCHES
The Dress / The Details / A Moment with Mum
As the ceremony drew closer, attention turned to the dress, shoes and flowers. Katy’s mum helped her with the final details of getting dressed — one of those personal moments that can mean so much when looking back through wedding photographs.
Beautiful details matter, but it is often the people around them who make these photographs special.
ONE OF THE MOST PERSONAL MOMENTS OF THE DAY
First Look at The Millhouse / A Moment on the Bridge
Before the ceremony, Katy and Matthew chose to see each other privately on the bridge at The Millhouse. Rather than waiting for the traditional first glimpse at the ceremony, they created a moment that belonged to just the two of them.
A First Look can be a lovely way to slow down the day. It gives a couple time to take everything in, share a few words and enjoy being together before the celebrations gather pace.
For Katy and Matthew, it also allowed time for portraits and group photographs before the ceremony, leaving more freedom to enjoy their guests afterwards.
THE PEOPLE CLOSEST TO THEM
Bridal Party & Family / Together Before the Ceremony
With their First Look complete, Katy and Matthew gathered their wedding party and families for photographs. Taking these earlier in the day was a thoughtful choice, making space for the people who mattered most without interrupting the drinks reception later.
PORTRAITS / BEFORE THE CEREMONY
Wedding Portraits / Exploring The Millhouse Grounds
The grounds at The Millhouse offer a beautiful mix of textures and scenery, from historic stonework to quieter corners beside the River Boyne. After the First Look, Katy and Matthew had time to enjoy their portraits without the pressure of rushing away from their guests.
My approach to portraits is simple: a little guidance when it helps, natural movement and enough space for a couple to feel like themselves.
THE CEREMONY / THE OLD MILL
The Old Mill Ceremony / Meaningful Wedding Traditions
The ceremony took place in The Old Mill, a historic space with exposed brickwork, tall ceilings, timber beams and elegant chandeliers. The room has a character of its own, creating a memorable backdrop without taking attention away from the couple.
Katy and Matthew brought deeply personal touches to their ceremony. Their celebration included a symbolic blending of water from seas meaningful to them, a ring blessing and the lighting of a Unity Candle.
These thoughtful traditions made the ceremony unmistakably theirs. Alongside the larger moments, I focused on the reactions, gestures and connections between the couple and their guests.
AFTER THE CEREMONY
The Drinks Reception / Ice Cream, Hugs & Celebration
Once the ceremony finished, the day moved into a more relaxed rhythm. There were congratulations, conversations, laughter and the pleasure of having everyone together.
An ice cream van added a playful touch to the reception, giving guests another reason to gather and enjoy the afternoon. It was the kind of personal detail that made the celebration feel warm and welcoming.
THE WEDDING RECEPTION / DINING
The Wedding Reception / Beautiful Details & Dining
As the celebration moved towards dinner, the focus shifted to the reception space, the carefully arranged tables and the details that brought the couple’s vision together.
These wider photographs help tell the complete story of the day. Alongside portraits and emotional moments, they preserve the atmosphere of the room before guests take their seats.
THE PEOPLE / THE STORIES / THE LAUGHTER
Wedding Speeches / Laughter & Meaningful Moments
Speeches are often one of the most expressive parts of a wedding day. The room becomes a collection of reactions: smiles, laughter, emotion and those wonderful moments when everyone is listening to the same story.
Rather than focusing only on the person speaking, I look for the responses around the room — especially the moments between Katy, Matthew and the people closest to them.
WHEN EVENING FALLS
The Millhouse After Dark / Fairy Lights & Evening Atmosphere
As daylight faded, The Millhouse took on a different atmosphere. The historic buildings and outdoor spaces felt especially inviting beneath the evening lights, while guests continued to wander, talk and enjoy the celebration.
These in-between moments are an important part of the story. They show how the venue feels after sunset, beyond the ceremony and formal photographs.
THE EVENING CELEBRATION
The First Dance / A Night to Remember
By the time Katy and Matthew took to the dance floor, the atmosphere had shifted from the quieter moments of the day to an evening filled with music, laughter and celebration. Their first dance marked the beginning of a wonderful night, with live music, spontaneous dancing and unforgettable moments shared with family and friends. For me, this is where documentary wedding photography truly comes alive — capturing genuine emotions, movement and the joy of people simply being themselves.
THE MILLHOUSE SLANE · AFTER DARK
A Final Moment Under the Lights / Romantic Night Wedding Portraits
As the celebrations continued, Katy and Matthew stepped away for a few quiet moments beneath the glowing fairy lights at The Millhouse. Surrounded by the warmth of the illuminated wooden pergola and the darkness of the evening, these intimate portraits became a beautiful final chapter of their wedding story.
Sometimes the most memorable photographs happen when the day slows down, even for just a moment.
