A REAL SUMMER WEDDING IN SLIGO

Markree Castle Wedding Slideshow / Lorraine & Sam

Lorraine and Sam’s wedding was not a day that happened entirely in one place. Preparations began away from the castle, their ceremony took place in a beautiful church, and afterwards everyone travelled to
Markree Castle
for the reception and the rest of the celebration.

That movement through the day is one of the reasons I love this slideshow. It brings together the quieter parts of the morning, the ceremony, the journey to Markree, portraits around the grounds, speeches on the Grand Staircase and the energy of the evening without turning the wedding into a sequence of posed photographs.

Instead, it feels like one complete story. A summer wedding in Sligo with family, friends, two dogs, creative transport, woodland portraits, the Boathouse and an outdoor first dance as the light began to disappear.

FROM CEREMONY TO CASTLE

A Wedding Day That Changed with Every Location

The ceremony took place in a church filled with stained glass and traditional character before the wedding moved to Markree Castle. That contrast gave the photographs two very different atmospheres within the same story.

Once at the castle, there was no need to force the day into a photoshoot. We used the woodland, river and Boathouse naturally as the afternoon unfolded, before everyone returned inside for the reception and speeches.

Later, Lorraine and Sam took their first dance outside. It was one of those simple decisions that completely changed the feeling of the evening and gave the slideshow a beautiful ending in the summer light.

THE WAY I PHOTOGRAPH WEDDINGS

Let the Wedding Be the Wedding

My approach is relaxed and documentary-led. I will guide you when it helps, especially with timing and portraits, but the photographs should never become more important than the experience itself.

Your wedding is not a photoshoot.
You do not have to perform your wedding day.
You just have to live it.

A QUESTION COUPLES OFTEN ASK

Church Ceremony & Markree Castle Reception

Can we have our ceremony somewhere else and celebrate at Markree Castle afterwards?
Yes. Lorraine and Sam’s wedding is a good example of how beautifully this can work. Their ceremony took place in a church before everyone travelled to Markree Castle for the reception, portraits, speeches and evening celebration. The most important thing is allowing enough time in the timeline for the journey so the afternoon still feels relaxed once you arrive at the castle.
