Anna and Eoin said “I do” in one of Ireland’s most romantic locations – the breathtaking Markree Castle in County Sligo. This historic estate is not only a beautiful venue, but also one of the most beloved choices for couples planning a destination wedding in Ireland.

Morning Preparations by the River

The day began with morning preparations by the river, in the peaceful boathouse tucked away in the castle grounds. The bride and her bridesmaids enjoyed a joyful, relaxed morning – with laughter, prosecco, and even a moment out on the boat. It was the perfect way to start a day full of natural moments and emotion.

Ceremony in the Intimate Castle Chapel

The ceremony took place in the intimate Markree Castle Chapel – a warm and atmospheric space filled with history. With its stone archways, stained glass windows, and soft natural light, this chapel offers a timeless and sacred feeling. Every wedding here feels deeply personal, especially in such a quiet and meaningful setting.

Portraits Among Blooming Roses

After the ceremony, we took some time for portraits in the blooming gardens. The roses were in full bloom, the paths were alive with color and light, and Anna and Eoin looked completely at ease. As a candid and documentary wedding photographer, I always love when couples feel free to enjoy the moment – and this session was full of effortless connection and joy.

Speeches from the Grand Staircase

The speeches took place on the elegant staircase in the grand hallway – covered with a rich red carpet and surrounded by the soft glow of candlelight. It’s one of the most iconic spots in Markree Castle, and the atmosphere was both emotional and celebratory.

Elegant Dinner in the Castle Dining Room

Afterwards, the couple walked into the beautifully decorated dining room, where a long table set with timeless florals welcomed them for dinner. The florals were created by Olga from The Flower Shed, whose work I always admire – her flowers are fresh, natural, and perfectly matched to the elegance of Markree Castle weddings.

Sparklers & First Dance Under the Stars

As the evening continued, the guests stepped outside for a sparkler moment beneath the night sky – the perfect transition into Anna and Eoin’s first dance and the celebration that followed. From heartfelt ceremony to joyful dancing, their Markree Castle wedding was full of emotion, beauty, and unforgettable moments.
